Join us on this brand-new tour to explore the breathtaking scenery of Slovenia, with a 4* hotel stay beside the beautiful waters of Lake Bled.
Surrounded by the soaring peaks of the Julian Alps, Bled is one of Europe’s most picturesque holiday destinations. During our five-night stay, we’ll enjoy lake-view accommodation at the superb Park Hotel, ideally positioned on the shores of the lake. Its facilities include a panoramic thermal swimming pool, wellness facilities and a restaurant overlooking the beautiful surroundings.
Our included excursions introduce you to Slovenia’s charming capital, Ljubljana, the unspoilt landscape surrounding Lake Bohinj and Mount Vogel, and the remarkable underground world of Postojna Cave. We’ll also visit dramatic Predjama Castle, built into the mouth of a towering cave.
With comfortable overnight hotels in Reims and Ulm, dinner included every evening and with excursions included, this promises to be a wonderful journey through the heart of Europe.
Departing South Wales in the early hours of the morning, we travel to Dover for our lunchtime ferry crossing to Calais. Once in France, we continue to the Mercure Reims Parc des Expositions Hotel for our first overnight stay, with dinner (set menu) and breakfast included.
After breakfast, we continue eastwards through France and into Germany.
Our destination is the Seligweiler Hotel, situated near the historic city of Ulm, where we’ll enjoy an overnight stay with dinner (set menu) and breakfast included.
Today, we continue through southern Germany and Austria, enjoying changing views as we head towards the magnificent mountains and lakes of Slovenia.
By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Bled and check into the superb Park Hotel for our five-night stay, with a buffet-style dinner and breakfast included each day. Along with tea or coffee after dinner and use of the hotel’s panoramic thermal swimming pool.
Our first full day in Slovenia is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Take a relaxing walk along the lakeside promenade, browse the shops and cafés in the resort or simply admire the remarkable Alpine scenery. Traditional pletna boats sail across the lake to its famous island, while Bled Castle stands high above the water on a dramatic rocky cliff.
You may also be tempted to try Bled’s celebrated cream cake while relaxing in one of the resort’s cafés.
Today's excursion takes us to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s attractive and welcoming capital city.
On arrival, we’ll be joined by a local guide for an included two-hour walking tour. Discover the city’s elegant riverside streets, historic bridges, colourful buildings and lively squares while learning more about Ljubljana’s history and culture.
Following our tour, there will be free time to explore independently, enjoy lunch in one of the city’s many cafés or browse the shops before returning to Bled.
A magnificent day of Alpine scenery awaits as we explore the area surrounding Lake Bohinj.
Set within the spectacular Julian Alps, Bohinj offers a quieter and more unspoilt contrast to Bled. We’ll be accompanied by a local guide as we discover the lake and its surrounding mountain landscape.
Our day includes a cable-car ride to Mount Vogel, where, weather permitting, we can enjoy far-reaching views across the Julian Alps. We’ll also visit a local cheese farm for a tasting and an introduction to the area’s traditional farming heritage.
Please be aware that this excursion includes walking elements and the operation of the cable car is subject to weather conditions.
Our excursion today takes us to two of Slovenia’s most extraordinary attractions.
At Postojna Cave, we’ll journey into a fascinating underground landscape of vast chambers, tunnels and remarkable rock formations. Part of the visit is made aboard the cave’s underground train, followed by a guided walk through this spectacular natural wonder.
We then continue to Predjama Castle, an unforgettable medieval fortress built into the entrance of a towering cave beneath a rocky cliff. Together, Postojna and Predjama provide a wonderful combination of natural beauty, history and legend.
The temperature inside Postojna Cave remains cool throughout the year, so warm clothing and comfortable footwear are recommended.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Slovenia and begin our return journey through Austria and into Germany.
We’ll return to the Seligweiler Hotel near Ulm for an overnight stay, with a set menu dinner and breakfast included.
Continuing westwards, we travel back into France and return to the Mercure Reims Parc des Expositions Hotel. Following our arrival, we’ll enjoy our final evening meal together before settling in for our overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, we travel to Calais for our morning ferry crossing to Dover. We then continue our journey home, arriving back in South Wales during the evening.
