Golden sands, rugged coastline, picturesque harbour villages, all surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean - welcome to our Cornish Getaway!
Day One
Departing South Wales, we head to the most southerly county in the country, and on to the excellent Esplanade hotel in Newquay.
Overlooking Fistral beach, your base for the week includes evening meals, accommodation and a full English breakfast each morning, along with an indoor pool and spectacular views from the lounge.
Day Two – St Ives and Penzance
Today, we continue soaking up the scenery with a visit to the jewel in the crown of Cornwall, St Ives.
With an almost Mediterranean feel, this mix of old and new brings this popular harbour town together. Art galleries and coffee shops sit side by side, and the narrow, winding streets invite you to explore so much more. From here we continue through the Cornish lanes, through Penzance, before heading back to relax for the evening.
Day Three – The Eden Project
Set within a dramatic former clay pit near St Austell, The Eden Project is one of Cornwall’s most popular attractions, combining spectacular scenery, fascinating plant life, and inspiring stories about the natural world.
Famous for it's iconic Biomes, you'll have the chance to step into a warm, tropical world filled with towering trees, lush plants, waterfalls, and exotic sights from rainforest regions around the globe. The Mediterranean Biome offers a gentler climate, with colourful flowers, citrus trees, olive groves, and plants from places such as South Africa, California, and the Mediterranean.
Outside, the gardens are equally impressive, with beautifully planted landscapes, seasonal displays, sculptures, and peaceful walking routes. Throughout the site, visitors can learn about sustainability, biodiversity, climate, and the important relationship between people and plants.
There is also time to enjoy the cafés, browse the gift shop, and relax while taking in the unique surroundings.
Day Four – Padstow & Bodmin Jail
We head north of Newquay and on to the beautiful, picturesque town of Padstow; here you'll find golden sands, chocolate box buildings and plenty of places to sample the local fresh produce.
After lunch, we'll leave Padstow and head to Bodmin Jail for an afternoon guided tour.
Built in 1779, Bodmin Jail is a landmark historical site in the heart of Cornwall, showcasing the rich and darkly fascinating legacy of Georgian and Victorian crime and punishment, which now offers an immersive, world-class experience for visitors of all ages.
Day Five – Free in Newquay
A day to enjoy at leisure; you can either relax at the hotel and make use of the facilities available, or our driver will offer you a drop off in the centre of Newquay if you wish to explore the town.
Day Six
Time to bid a fond farewell to the south west coastline, heading back to Wales for an early evening return.
