Join us for a five-day spring holiday to one of our favourite UK coastal destinations — beautiful Torquay, at the heart of the English Riviera.
Just a few relaxing hours by coach, Torquay is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing break by the sea. With its palm-lined promenade, sparkling sea views and welcoming resort atmosphere, it offers everything you need for a fun-filled few days away.
Your holiday includes a four-night stay at the popular TLH Derwent Hotel, with dinner, bed and breakfast included.
Day One
We travel by coach to Torquay and arrive at the welcoming TLH Derwent Hotel, ideally located less than five minutes’ walk from the seafront.
The hotel offers comfortable, family-friendly accommodation along with a fantastic range of leisure facilities. Guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a luxury spa (extra charges apply for spa use), gym, sauna, steam room and hot tub, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
Bedrooms are bright and comfortable, each featuring a private bathroom, TV, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. Most rooms have lift access.
There is also plenty to enjoy within the hotel itself, including a games area with ten-pin bowling, pool and ping-pong tables. In the evening, the lively Starlight Bar hosts entertainment, with a variety of cabaret and live acts to enjoy.
Torquay is a wonderful resort to visit at any time of year, so once you have settled in, why not begin exploring and discover your own favourite corner of the English Riviera?
Day Two – Dartmouth
Today, we visit the beautiful riverside town of Dartmouth, one of South Devon’s most charming and popular destinations.
Set at the mouth of the River Dart, Dartmouth is known for its colourful historic streets, independent shops, inviting cafés, bars and restaurants, and its wonderful waterside setting. Take time to wander at leisure, browse the shops, enjoy a coffee by the river or simply soak up the relaxed coastal atmosphere.
For those who would like to discover more of the town’s fascinating history, a river cruise is a lovely way to see the area from the water. Cruises often pass sights such as the Britannia Royal Naval College and locations connected with Agatha Christie, making this a memorable day out in one of Devon’s most picturesque towns.
Day Three – Exeter
Today we head north to the historic cathedral city of Exeter.
As a vibrant city centre, Exeter offers plenty of opportunities for shopping, sightseeing and dining, but it also has a rich heritage waiting to be explored. Step away from the bustling streets and you will find yourself in the shadow of the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, a remarkable building with around a thousand years of history.
The cathedral is well worth a visit, with its impressive architecture, hidden corners and fascinating stories. Afterwards, why not explore Exeter’s beautifully restored historic quayside, where waterside cafés, bars and restaurants make the most of the region’s excellent West Country produce?
With its blend of history, culture, shopping and dining, Exeter makes for an enjoyable day out.
Day Four – Free Day in Torquay
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Torquay, giving you time to experience the English Riviera at your own pace.
Spring is a lovely time to visit, with fresh sea air, beautiful coastal views and plenty of places to relax over lunch or a drink. You may wish to take a stroll along the seafront, browse the shops, visit a local attraction, or simply sit back and enjoy the resort atmosphere.
Whether you prefer a gentle walk, a spot of shopping or a leisurely afternoon by the sea, Torquay is a wonderful place to spend the day.
