Join us for a relaxing Easter Bank Holiday break to the beautiful English Riviera, staying in the popular seaside resort of Torquay.
Day One
Leaving South Wales we head south west, taking a lunchtime break in Taunton, the county town of Somerset. With plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and great shopping too, it’s a charming stopover.
Leaving Taunton it’s just over an hour to the Riviera Hotel in Torquay. Situated just 200 yards from the seafront, this welcoming seaside hotel will treat you to a three-night stay with carvery-style evening meals, accommodation and a full English breakfast each morning. The hotel also boasts its own cabaret bar and an indoor swimming pool.
Torquay itself has plenty to offer. The beach is a short walk away and the marina, with its yachts, offers boat trips and a ferry across to Brixham. The marina is lined with café bars, perfect for relaxing if the sun is shining.
The town also has a range of traditional shops and, with the land train stopping right outside the hotel, it’s easy to explore even if you don’t fancy walking.
The Riviera Hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the English Riviera’s blue flag beach and close to a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel also features newly refurbished rooms, carvery-style evening meals and entertainment each night in the Show Bar.
Before booking: The Riviera Hotel is a large hotel, so if you prefer to be near reception and the restaurant, please let us know when booking. For guests with limited mobility, we recommend viewing the hotel’s access statement and contacting us to discuss any requirements.
Day Two – Plymouth
If you’d like to join us, today we travel to the ocean city of Plymouth.
We begin at the historic Barbican, home of the Mayflower Steps, with its shops and restaurants. Nearby, Plymouth Hoe offers a beautiful open green where you can watch the ships come and go.
For those who prefer modern shopping, the city centre is home to the popular Drake Circus Shopping Centre. Alternatively, you can spend more time enjoying the Barbican area at your leisure.
Day Three – Free in Torquay
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Torquay.
Whether you choose to relax by the sea, explore the marina or enjoy the town’s shops and cafés, there’s plenty to see and do at your own pace.
Day Four
Time to bid farewell to Devon as we begin our journey home.
If the weather is kind, we’ll make a stop in Weston-super-Mare so you can enjoy one last taste of the seaside before we cross the bridge and return to Wales.
We have a number of pick up points available for this break as shown below...
