Bletchley Park famously played a crucial role during World War II as the central site for British codebreakers to decrypt German military codes, including the famous Enigma machine. The intelligence gathered at Bletchley Park is widely believed to have shortened the war by years and saved countless lives.
Today, Bletchley Park is a popular tourist destination and museum, preserving the history of the incredible achievements made there during the war and serves as a reminder of the importance of intelligence and innovation in times of conflict.
Day One - Oxford
Departing South Wales in the morning, we make our way to the city of Oxford.
Scenic waterways,world class museums, the halls and libraries where former prime ministers and literary greats once graced are just a few things that attract visitors to this famous city. From punting to the galleries filled with ancient treasures and the incredible architecture are what you can expect to see, but Oxford also has a rich industrial past and thriving arts culture too.
At the end of afternoon we'll make our way over to the Courtyard By Marriott Oxford South hotel to check in for our one night stay with evening meal and breakfast included.
Day Two - Bletchley Park
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel we'll make our way to Bletchley Park, arriving mid morning for our visit.
Once the top-secret home of the World War Two Codebreakers, Bletchley Park is now a vibrant heritage attraction.
Immersive films, interactive displays, museum collections and faithfully recreated WW2 rooms will guide you on a journey to discover the past at Bletchley Park. Exhibitions, set within beautifully restored historic buildings, tell the story of this once top-secret operation. Find out more about the brilliant minds and complex machines that made this vital work possible, and discover the global impact Bletchley Park had on the outcome of WW2.
At the end of our visit we'll begin our homeward journey, arriving back late in the evening.
