Day One
Departing South Wales in the early hours of the morning, we head to the South East of England before taking a lunchtime ferry crossing over to Northern France. From here we make our way to our overnight stop.
Day Two
After an early breakfast at the hotel we'll be leaving to make our way to Lyon where we take you to embark the A-ROSA cruise vessel; once onboard you can settle into your cabin ready for departure from the port to begin cruising down the River Rhône towards Tournon.
Excursion Options
We have included several coach excursion options (included in the price) for those who wish to have some time to enjoy and explore on shore. However, you are welcome to remain on board the vessel during the daytime if you prefer to do so!

Day Three - Tournon (Drivers Day Off )
Today, we arrive at our first port of call in the early hours of the morning, with a stop at Tournon. Across the river (within walking distance) from the docking point in Tournon, you'll find Tain L'Hermitage. Known locally as "Tain", the town is renowned for its Valrhona Chocolate and Côtes du Rhône wines, with vineyards that plunge towards the river. Taurobole Square is where you'll find local shops, along with remnants of its 2,000-year-old history. As the town is within walking distance of the docking point, you'll be free to explore the local area on foot.
Day Four
Today we'll arrive at the port of Avignon for the next stage, and with your coach on hand to help you explore.
Back in the 1300s, this Provençal town was the centre of the Roman Catholic world and indeed where the Pope once resided! Today, the remnants of this can be seen with some incredible ecclesiastical buildings, including World Heritage Site of the Palais des Papes.
While here we'll also offer an optional visit to Chateuneuf du Pape for a wine tour and tasting* (*an entry charge for the vineyard may apply if you wish to take part in the wine tasting visit)
Days Five & Six
This morning we'll arrive at the port of Arles, where the boat will remain for the next two days. There are so many incredible things to see and do here, but the Roman remains are a must! Once the capital of the Western Roman Empire, you'll find The Arenes, Theatre Antique, Constantine's Baths and Alyscamps are all in the centre of this medieval city,with a bust of Julius Caesar on display at the Musee de L'Arles Antique that was fished out of the River Rhône in 2008!
And with your coach on hand again for one of these days, we'll make the most of this fascinating area of France, including a visit to the city of Nimes, and the Camargue National Park, an incredibly fascinating landscape famous for it's white horses, miniature black bulls and flamingos!
Day Seven - Viviers
Today we arrive at the walled town* of Viviers. Meandering medieval streets lined with pastel coloured houses and one of the smallest cathedrals in France, make this the perfect place to take a wander around.
*Please be aware that there is a steep walk up to the centre of Viviers, and due to the historic nature of the town, the coach is unable to drop off in the centre
Day Eight - Lyon
We head back to Lyon, with the afternoon to explore France's third largest city or to relax and unwind on your last day onboard.
Day Nine
Today we disembark, leaving the cruise and heading north for our overnight hotel stop.
Day Ten
Time to bid farewell to France as we cross the channel back to the UK, arriving back home late that evening.
