Day One
Leaving South Wales in the morning we head South West, taking a lunchtime break in Taunton, the capital of Somerset. With plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and great shopping too, it’s a charming place for a lunchtime stop to start your holiday!

Leaving Taunton it’s just over an hour to the Riviera Hotel in Torquay, where you'll check in for your four night stay. Situated just 200yds from the seafront this welcoming seaside hotel provides a carvery style dinner each evening, and full English breakfast each morning. The hotel also boasts its very own cabaret bar for the adults and an indoor swimming pool too.

Torquay is a fabulous holiday destination with plenty to offer - the beach is a short walk away and the marina, along with the glorious yachts, has speedboat rides and a ferry taking you to Brixham too! The marina is also lined with café bars, and if the sun is shining then you can just kick back with a cuppa or something cooler!

The town boasts many of the traditional shops and with the land train right outside the hotel, it’s really easy to see it all, even if you don’t fancy the walk!

The Riviera Hotel in Torquay is a great choice for a weekend away or something a little longer. Just a few minutes walk from the English Riviera's blue flag beach, you'll also find a huge range of bars restaurants shops close to the seafront. This hotel boasts newly refurbished rooms with carvery style evening meals and entertainment each night in the Show Bar.

Before booking: The Riviera Hotel is a large hotel, so if you prefer to be near reception and the restaurant, please let us know when booking. For guests with limited mobility we would recommend taking a look at the hotel's access statement before making a booking  (available at https://www.rivieratorquay.co.uk/access-statement ) and contacting us to discuss any special requirements that you may have.

Day Two – Sidmouth & Exmouth with River Exe Cruise
Our full day out takes us across to East Devon, where our first stop of the day is the seaside town of Sidmouth. Nestled beneath majestic red cliffs, and with the backdrop of the green hills of the Sid Valley, this charming town is a lovely place to visit. The Connaught Gardens are one of the town’s highlights, along with the seafront, and Jacob’s Ladder; couple these with it's stylish eateries and bustling town centre, it's not hard to see why Sidmouth is such a popular destination.

From here we take you over to Exmouth - another vibrant seaside town situated on Devon's East Coast, just where the majestic River Exe meets the sea. Reputedly the oldest seaside resort in Britain, its two miles of golden sand make it the longest seafront in Devon and Cornwall, and a great place for a gentle seaside stroll! During our visit we'll take you for a Devon Cream Tea boat trip! Cruise along the calm and protected waters of the nationally renowned River Exe, whilst enjoying a deliciously Devon Cream Tea, with oodles of cream and lashings of strawberry jam, all served the right way - and accompanied with a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee – a match made in Devon!

Day Three – Plymouth
Today we’ll take you to the ocean city of Plymouth. In the morning we’ll stop off at the Barbican area, home of the Mayflower steps, shops and restaurants, and on Plymouth Hoe there’s a beautiful green where you can watch the ships roll in. The other part of town has a more modern feel. The Drakes Shopping Centre is the latest retail spot, but if that’s not your thing then enjoy the Barbican for the rest of your day.

Day Four – Free in Torquay
Relax at the hotel, it has a swimming pool!, or stroll along the seafront.
If strolling isn’t your thing then hop on the land train that goes from the front of the hotel. The stops include the town centre and Tor Abbey , but to go further then the Brixham ferry is just a couple of pounds.

Day Five
Time to head home, but we will have a lunchtime break along the way, making your break last just that little bit longer! Arriving home that evening.
