Day Three - the Borders
It has be said that the Scottish borders just isn't "proper Scotland", but as we drive through the countryside you may think differently. The river Tweed gave it's name to Scotland's textile industry, the town of Hawick has produced many of Scotland's rugby players and when Mary Queen of Scots took the odd stopover there.. it's very much proper Scotland.
Day Four - Dumfries and Gretna Green
Today it's a short drive over to Dumfries. A former Royal Burgh, this market town lies in the banks of the river Nith and is known as one of the many haunts of Scottish poet Rabbie Burns.
The afternoon you can realx at the hotel or visit the world famous Gretna Green Blacksmiths.
Known for runaway weddings it's now a charming visitor centre but still to this day carries out ceremonies. Take some confetti just in case....
Time to head back to South Wales. With comfort stops along the way, and arriving home that evening.
